MAVILLETTE - Police are investigating the latest case of someone allegedly firing a gun at the home of a lobster buyer in southwestern Nova Scotia.
Geoffrey Jobert says he recently checked on some damage to the roof of his home in Mavillette, in southwestern Nova Scotia, and discovered birdshot pellets lodged into shingles.
The RCMP issued a release today confirming a shot was fired at his home in the small community near Meteghan, N.S., and requesting public assistance with the case.
Jobert says the pellets struck his home a few metres above the spot where someone had fired a single shot last Nov. 23 that penetrated the wall and passed through three rooms before lodging in a rocking chair in his living room.
The lobster buyer has said he started facing threats last year after he agreed to buy the catch of a harvester who refused to work with people allegedly purchasing illegally caught lobster.Â
The RCMP have estimated that over the past two years, officers have laid more than 51 charges related to illegal fisheries, including four prior cases of shots fired into homes.
